Pilates Instructor – Job Post (5/11/2023)

15-28 hrs/week, depending on desire for daytime or evening hours, including potential to work weekends.

Our vibrant, inclusive and community-based Pilates and movement studio is looking for a certified Pilates instructor to teach Private, Semi-private, Group Reformer and Mat Classes in Boise, Idaho. Barre instructor experience is a plus.

Shifts available are weekday days and/or evenings, and/or weekend mornings/early afternoon. We’re looking for someone who is motivated in both their teaching and learning career, and wants to be part of a supportive and engaged team of instructors.

Job requirements:

  • Two or more years Pilates teaching experience.
  • Current CPR/First-Aid certifications on file. 
  • Certified in Pilates by Balanced Body, Stott, BASI or other renowned program, or currently enrolled in a Balanced Body Instructor Training program.
  • Certified by Pilates Method Alliance preferred
  • Certified by ACE, ACSM, AFAA, or similar certifications preferred.  
  • Attend one continuing education workshop (minimum 12 hours) per year.
  • Pilates-based instruction to clients, including:
    • Conduct thorough initial evaluation, including postural assessment, of all new clients and those that have had an injury or have been away for a period of 6 months or more. Follow the studio procedures for the evaluation and document all results.
    • If client is also under the care of a medical professional (doctor, physical therapist, chiropractor, etc), get full injury history from that professional within one week of client’s first session, and communicate with that professional on client’s exercise program and progress.
    • Conduct Private, Semi-private, Trio, and group Equipment class instruction sessions as well as Mat class and/or Barre class instruction, following the class description.  All sessions and classes will consist of warm-up, conditioning phase, and cool-down phase. Current session length is 50 minutes, but can be as short as 30 minutes when appropriate for client. Instructor must arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class or session and begin and end classes on time.
    • Observe clients continually and assess their ability and understanding of safe and effective Pilates movements.  Provide verbal and tactile cueing with client’s consent and as appropriate to exercise.
    • Communicate clearly and effectively, check for understanding periodically.  Answer all questions to the best of your ability and confirm any answers that may be uncertain about.
    • Relay client physical abilities, needs, and concerns to other instructors in cases of substitute teaching or when clients transition to group classes.
    • Accurately record client’s schedule, enrollment and participation in MindBody Online or current scheduling software.
    • Ensure that any used equipment is cleaned, disinfected, picked up, put away and stereo equipment turned off. Clean floors as needed. Tidy studio as needed.
    • Submit completed Client Tally Sheet for payroll via Google Docs by 9am on payroll day. Be sure to include administrative hours worked each week.
    • Submit PTO and Flex Time requests to studio owner at least 2 weeks prior to requested time off.
    • Attend staff meetings – typically first Wednesday of each month at 1:30pm.

Additional requirements:

    • Client relations (greeting, scheduling, online software support, new clients orientation)

    • Answer phone, schedule sessions/classes, email communications.

    • Studio light cleaning, equipment maintenance and general organization.
